To begin we will discover how the sun shines on the white stone walls of Arequipa; we will continue through one of the deepest canyons in the world next to a valley full of volcanoes; the highest navigable lake in the world from where a powerful Inca Empire emerges; to finish in one of the 7 Wonders of the World: the impressive citadel of Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 1Lima

We will arrive in Lima, known as the City of Kings, where our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you to our hotel. We will start a beautiful tour in the Parque del Amor (Miraflores Love Park), which has spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. We will then visit the Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial center belonging to the Lima culture and dating back to 400 A. D.

From there we will take a transport to the Plaza de Armas, where we will visit the Cathedral and walk to the convent of Santo Domingo, which was home to patrons such as San Martín de Porres and Santa Rosa de Lima during the seventeenth century. Currently his remains rest in this religious enclosure. Transfer to our hotel to spend the night in Lima.

Day 2Lima - Arequipa

After a good breakfast we will go to the airport to catch a flight to White City of Arequipa. Our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you to the hotel. This will be our first encounter with the altitude (2,335 masl), so we will leave the rest of the morning free to acclimatize. Already in the afternoon, we will begin a beautiful tour that starts in the neighborhood of San Lázaro, where Arequipa was founded, to continue towards the viewpoint of Carmen, from where we will have a beautiful view of the three tutelary volcanoes of the city: Misti, Chachani and Picchu Picchu.

From there we will continue our journey to the colonial district of Yanahuara, which has an Andalusian style church, and its viewpoint built with the luminous white ashlar, which gives its name to the city. Later we will visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina, which has countless recesses, gardens, cloisters… to finish our city tour in the Plaza de Armas, where we will visit the Cathedral and the Church of the Company of Jesus, founded by the first Jesuits in the seventeenth century. We will go to our hotel to rest and spend the night in the city.

Day 3Arequipa - Colca

Our day trekking adventure begins by going to the Colca Valley to climb up the slopes of the Chachani Volcano and observe stunning images of Misti and Picchu Picchu. On our way we will cross several vicuñas (species of auquénido) from the Pampa Cañahuas reserve. We will also cross small villages with singular people who will not hesitate to dedicate a smile and a travelling greeting to us.

We will arrive at our lodge to recharge our batteries and have a nice replenishing lunch with a hot coca tea. We will have the afternoon free to rest or enjoy the thermal baths of the place. Dinner and accommodation tonight will be in the Colca Valley.

Day 4Colca - Puno

Very early in the morning we will head to one of the main points of the visit, the viewpoint of the Cruz del Cóndor, where we will be able to see the majestic flight of the Andean condors, a national symbol of Peru and the high Andean zones. In this stunning location we will have an incredible view of the Colca Canyon, which is considered one of the deepest in the world. We will continue on our way to visit the small villages of Maca and Yanque, which still preserve ancestral traditions and beautiful churches dating back to the colony.

After lunch, our staff will guide you to our special transport to make a journey of about six and a half hours to the city of Puno. There they will be waiting for us to guide us to our lodging and invite them to the first coca mate to acclimatize us to the imposing altitude of the city (3.827 masl).

Day 5Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world and according to legend, the place where the first Inca kings came from. To start the day we will visit the floating islands of Uros, made from a river reed called ‘totora’ and where a community of friendly people with colorful clothes live. From there we will continue crossing the Titicaca to go to the island of Taquile, which still preserves pre-Hispanic traditions and are known in the world for the elaboration of its textiles.

After visiting the island of Taquile we will have a typical lunch of the gastronomy of the lake, and in the afternoon we will return to the city of Puno to go to our lodging.

Day 6Puno - Cusco

At dawn we will take a bus service to the Imperial City of Cusco. On this journey we will take the opportunity to make some stops and get to know the attractions of the province, such as the Museum of Pucará, where we will be able to acquire some of its famous ceramic toritos that attract the good fortune of the Andean families. The next stop will be in La Raya, border between Puno and Cusco, where we can have lunch and have beautiful views. From there we will depart to Racchi, the Temple of the supreme God Wiracocha or Viracocha. Our last stop before reaching Cusco will be in the beautiful chapel of Andahuaylillas. In the afternoon they will be waiting for us in the city to transfer us to our hotel.

Day 7Cusco

It is time to get to know the surroundings of Cusco. We will leave in the morning to Sacsayhuaman’s sacred fortress, built on the basis of huge stone blocks, and then continue to the religious enclave of Qenqo, which still preserves an altar carved in stone where the Incas made all kinds of sacrifices. Later we will continue our tour to the watchtower of Puca Pucará and the ingenious monument of Tambomachay. After the free lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco to start a tour in the Plaza de San Cristobal, to continue to the colorful Mercado de San Pedro, where you can find everything from handicrafts to potions of love based on live frog.

We will pass to the Qoricancha or ‘Temple of the Sun’, which during the Inca Empire was clothed in gold and today functions as a Catholic enclosure. We will also visit the artisan quarter of San Blas and walk down to the famous Hatun Rumiyoc Street, where you will find the Inca Roca Palace (now the Archbishop’s Palace) and the world-famous 12 Angle Stone.

Our city tour ends at the Plaza de Armas to visit the Cathedral and its great collection of colonial art of incalculable value. In the evening night we will go to our lodging in Cusco.

Day 8Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is possibly one of the most energetic places on the planet. The pure air of the Andes will fill our lungs during all our journey, in which we will pass through Awanacancha, where the inhabitants of the place will show us their millenary textile weaving and dyeing techniques. The next stop will take us to the famous Pisac Market, the largest in the region, where we can find craftsmanship and diversity of breads and empanadas in their clay and wood ovens.

After having lunch in this charming village, we will continue in the afternoon to Ollantaytambo, a peculiar Inca village that still preserves the pre-Hispanic architecture and customs that has unique ruins due to its shape of fortress and bastion of Inca resistance. We will stay in the Sacred Valley.

Day 9Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco

In order to take advantage of 110% of this unique day, we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to the town of Aguas Calientes early in the morning. The objective is to know one of the 7 Wonders of the World and one of the most magical places on the planet: Machu Picchu. Upon arriving at Aguas Calientes, our staff will guide you to a special transport that will take you half an hour up the Hiram Bingham Highway through the beautiful scenery of the Urubamba River.

The Lost City of the Incas will show us imposing with its stepped terraces built on the stone, its temples, staircases and ceremonial areas. Upon arrival you will feel the famous energy of the place that soakes the whole Machu Picchu like a mantle of light. After the guided tour with one of our professionals we will have free time to stroll around the enclosure and have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. After the visit we will return to the train station of Aguas Calientes to go back to our hotel in Cusco.

Day 10Cusco - Lima

We will have a good breakfast in which we will be able to remember the best of this incredible trip that cannot leave anyone indifferent. Our staff will guide you to the airport to take our departure plane.
