Itinerary

Day 1Lima

Travelers will arrival to Jorge Chavez International Airport of Lima. Our staff will pick them at the airport for transfer to the hotels.

We will take advantage of the afternoon to walk through the most beautiful streets, squares and avenues of the city, starting with the Miraflores Love Park and the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial center of the Lima culture (400 d.C.).

In the center we will visit two of the most important religious buildings in the city: The Cathedral, where lies the bones of the discoverer and founder of Lima (Francisco Pizarro) and the catacombs of the Convent of Santo Domingo.

Day 2Lima - Cusco

Our Staff will transfer you to the airport to depart to Cusco.

Upon arrival we will accompany you to the hotel.

Free day to acclimatize to the altitude. During that day we will stay in Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, freely exploring its streets, churches, markets, tradicional customs, deliciuos dishes and charming people.

Day 3Inca Trail - Piscacucho / Huayllabamba

The great adventure begins! We will wake up early in the morning to depart to Ollantaytambo (2.792 masl).

There we will get water and make some last purchases before to head to Piscacucho (2.750 masl) the start of the Inca Trail at Km 82.

Start our first 12 km walk to acclimatize to the altitude. We will stop at a natural viewpoint from where we can see the snow-capped Veronica and the archaeological site of Llaqtapata.

We will continue walking until our first camp in Huayllabamba (3.000 masl).

Distance: 12 km
Approximate time: 5-6 hrs.
Maximum altitude reached: 3.000 meters above sea level
Campsite: Huayllabamba (3.000 masl).
Highlights: Panoramic view of Llaqtapata and Verónica snowcapped mountain.

Day 4Inca Trail - Huayllabamba / Llulluchapampa / Warmiwañusca / Pacaymayo

Begin the most intense day of the Inca Trail advancing through the Huayllabamba Valley. Arriving at Yunca Chimpa we will start the difficult ascent to Llullupampa (3.750 masl). We will take energy with a snack to continue ascending to the highest point of our route: Abra de Warmiwañusca (4.200 masl), known as the Abra «of the Dead Woman».

After observing the flora and fauna of the area, we will begin the descent to the next Pacaymayo campsite (3.600 masl), where we will have lunch and rest after this intense day.

Approximate time: 6-7 hrs
Maximum altitude reached: 4.200 meters above sea level
Campsite: Pacaymayo (3,600 masl)
Highlights: Paso de Warmiwañusca.

Day 5Inca Trail - Sayacmarca / Phuyutamarca / Wiñaywayna

During the tour of this day we will find a large number of Inca archaeological ruins. It is also the day with the least degree of difficulty, since most of the route is in descent.

Our first section will lead us to the Abra de Runcuracay (3.860 masl) with some beautiful ruins and we will continue to the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca (3.580 masl). After lunch we will cross theAbra de Phuyupatamarca (3.700 masl) and we will get to know the best preserved Inca complex of the entire Inca Trail, whose meaning in Spanish is «on the clouds».

We will continue towards Wiñaywayna (2.650 masl), an Inca complex that has a good number of agricultural terraces and religious and urban sectors. In this beautiful place we will camp and have our farewell dinner.

Distance: 16 Km.
Approximate time: 8 hrs.
Maximum altitude reached: 3.860 meters above sea level.
Campsite: Wiñaywayna (2.650 masl).
Highlights: Runcuracay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñaywayna

Day 6Inca Trail - Wiñaywayna / Intipuku / Machu Picchu

The sixth day we will finish our journey through the Inca Trail to reach our most precious reward and one of the 7 Wonders of the World: the Machu Picchu.

Very early in the morning we will ascend a narrow path of stairs to the Puerta del Sol or Intipuku (2.720 masl), from where we will have a spectacular view of Machu Picchu at dawn that will leave us breathless.

Then we will descend to begin a guided tour of the Inca citadel. We will know its temples, its urban and religious enclosures and some of its urban secrets. After having lunch in one of the restaurants of the enclosure we will have time to walk through the Machu Picchu or know the town of Aguas Calientes.

Distance: 4km.
Approximate time: 2 hrs.
Maximum altitude reached: 2.720 masl.
Highlights: Intipunku and Machu Picchu.

Day 7Machu Picchu - Cusco

Free morning. We suggest applying for the entrance tickets for Machu Picchu tickets for later days at the moment you book the whole tour program so as to avoid any complications due to congestions or lack of local availability.

In an additional visit to Machu Picchu we can visit sectors such as Intipunku or Puerta del Sol, the entrance to the citadel of the Inca Trail.

For those looking for a more intense adventure and wish to visit Huayna Picchu, it is important to have in mind that there are only 400 daily spots to climb the mountain, all of which have to be reserved in advance. At the arranged time, we will return to Cusco and will be transferred to the hotel.

Overnight stay in Cusco.

Day 8Cusco - Lima

Finish our adventure. We moved to the airport to board our departure flight.
