Machu Picchu Tickets 2017 – Informations and prices

There is a saying which goes ‘All roads get you to Rome‘; when it comes to Peru we could also say “All roads lead you to Machu Picchu”. This wonder of the world was named in 1981 as Cultural and Historical Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO.

It’s also the main reason why the tourism at the “Imperial City” of Cusco has been increasing, in 2016 the city exceeded 3 million tourists. Due to the multitude of visitors the Decentralized Culture Directorate Cusco had to prepare a series of regulations to avoid overcrowding.

Machu Picchu used to receive an approximate of 2,500 visits per day; however, the new reform changed this number to 5,940, amount divided into two shifts. Only 3,267 people could enter in the morning, while 2,673 could do it at the afternoon.

Shift morning

6am – 12pm. The temperature is cool, ideal for long hikings.

Shift afternoon:

12pm – 5:30 pm. The light of noon will allow you to observe the sanctuary’s splendor.

These rules came into effect in July 1 2017 and demanded the company of a guide when visiting the Inca citadel.

Below you can see the official list of prices to Machu Picchu. The entry is of nominative character (name and passport number) and only valid for a certain date.

There are four types of tickets for different interests: Ticket Machu Picchu Solo; Ticket MP + Huayna Picchu; Ticket MP + Mountain; Ticket Machu Picchu + Museum, which have an additional price.

Tickets can not be sold separately, and must be decided at the time of purchase.

The Ticket MP allows you to enjoy attractions such as: The Intihuatana, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Royal Palace, the Sacred Rock, among others.
